This is from Zhang Kechun, a photographer currently based in Chengdu.
He uses a large format camera to document the Yellow River; China’s second largest and thought of as the birthplace of Chinese civilisation. Its has also caused some of the world’s largest natural disasters when it’s broken its banks and flooded the surrounding countryside.
From his short essay, I think Zhang’s documenting the river and its ambivalent nature.
